"The Rites Of Spring"
A friend just told me ( in the " nicest possible way") that I need a new haircut ready for Spring.
AM I this bad?! ( see above)
I met this character on the sandstone trail somewhere in mid Cheshire this last glorious w/end.
There was a glimmer of recognition at once.
" A mirror image" someone said, before sloping off to stare through his binoculars...
And NOW, as I said, a friend's just told me...

I love him; isn't he/she wonderful! Well, I suppose sheep get an annual shearing, ready for the summer so, maybe, it's time..........???
We have Jacob sheep in the orchard behind our house, two of the ewes are 'expecting' in the next couple of weeks. I love this time of the year: lengthening days, warm rays of the sun teasing the daffodils out, birdsong welcoming the dawn.....
Hee. My youngest is growing his hair out (to look like Horatio Hornblower or Edward Elric or somebody) and looks about like that as well.
Ah hair - what extraordinary comments it draws...
I was standing on a tram stop outside a Safeway Supermarket yesterday evening when all of sudden I sensed someone standing behind me. I turned around and there was this simpleton gent grinning at me. "What lovely long wavy hair" he said. "Oh yeah?" I replied. He wandered off after that still grinning.
Anyway Jan, you obviously have fringe hence the comparison to the very fine sheep. I avoid them like the plague ever since B remarked at a time when I had one "You look like your mother". Horrors!
Philippa:
Bet your part of the world is pretty lovely at present!
Devon: "burgeoning"!
Marly:
My sons changed their appearences many times ...once I screamed as one entered the house and I really didn't recognise him.
That was the Oasis phase ( or Stone Roses??)..._when he dyed hair orange, brows black.... and I'll never forget other son, back to school for a prize ( a creative writing one!) strolling to platform with the most gorgeous flaxen hair streaming down his back.....You could hear the "ooohs" and the "ahhhs"!!
Anne S:
No, Im fringeless, but it's very curly and grows like a hedge!
But back to you:
How lovely...someone taking the time to say something nice to a stranger. I LIKE that!
Your blog is really funny and interesting... both, in my opinion.
greetings from Italy
Daniel
LOL! He's beautiful! I've always thought I look more like an Aberdeen Angus when my mop gets shaggy! ;-)
Devon - the primroses are out on the sunny south-facing banks. I went for a walk yesterday - it's half term here - and even came across the odd clump of violets in bloom up by the old church ruins here in Buckfastleigh. I always have this urge to kneel down and smell them . I simply adore parma violets - do you remember them?
Q. Am I this bad?
A. Yes.
Love those descriptions. Orange hair, black brows: he must have looked like a woolly bear caterpillar!
Yes, let the boys frolic with their hair...
When my eldest was little, he insisted on "big hair." It was shining blonde, enormously thick. Didn't matter what he wore, he was a girl to everybody. A beautiful little wild girl with big hair. Now he is a tall boy with short curly blond hair (the things puberty does!)
Parma violets, yes.....they sort of "go" with my " Brief Encounter" post, don't they....!
Hmm. Thanks, Adrian.
Have you dusted down YOUR mirror lately?
And what, I wonder, will Marly's lovely son look like next?!
Ha! Looks like my First Born's been busy with the scissors. He's done nearly a good job here as he did on my hair recently ...
Years ago, my brother almost refused to go to Uni as I'd cut his hair so badly ..
and even when it'd re-grown, he had to live with the photo on his student uni card just to remind him....
