I googled and found that "most blogs are abandoned in the first month" and also a claim that the average life span of the top 100 blogs was 33 months - but I think that is based on blogs that are still running, so who can tell what their life span will turn out to be?
There's an interesting article here (but it's rather old in internet terms)

Well mine has been going for 3 and a half years so not quite a four year old yet. I understand why they die and also see that they can take over far too much of your time. Mine is a bit of a pavane - advancing and retreating! Hope you don't give up on yours entirely.
Happy birthday Jan's Writing Blog!
Mine's been going for about the same time, and I can't imagine abandoning it any time soon. Some people I think change blog hosters, ie bloggers going to Word Press or Live Journal, rarely the other way around.
I wonder do we measure in dog years or what?
Happy Belated Birthday, Jan's blog! I too have been neglectful - but of visiting other blogs. I try, but I just can't keep up. Must try harder. There's always so much of interest around.
I think mine's four and a half.
I've always got the impression that very few people keep regular diaries but so many people do keep up their blogs. Maybe I'm wrong about the diaries, of course. I've kept one for 45 years - not every day, but continuously (ish) every few days or sometimes with a gap of a few weeks. I wonder if blog-keeping is more appealing for many people because of the feedback. Or maybe I'm wrong - maybe the world is crammed with diary-writers.
