"Avocados...and Lemons And Limes For One's Gin..."

Last week we returned from hols in Andalucia.
THIS was the perfect escape after the horrendous rain we've all had...and of course, since we came back, we've had lots and lot of the gorgeous shiny yellowy stuff...almost Spanish quality!
We stayed in a villa on the edge of the Sierra Nevada, surrounded by orchards of lemons, limes and avocados.  Peace beyond belief!

" A Rare Balmy Evening....!"

There's nothing like sipping wine on a balmy evening......and enjoying talented actors in a superb production...
THIS we did on Wednesday.

We were in Chester's Grosvenor Park for an evening  performance  of " Twelfth Night", with Cestrian Alex Clifton as Artistic Director.

BUT unfortunately I'm enclosing a lousy snap....aplopogies,...it certainly doesn't do justice to this happy versatile and enegetic production..

The Open Air Theatre was created by ChesterPerforms .http://www.chesterperforms.com/.
THIS is  " a diverse, multi-disciplinary producer of arts projects in and around the city" .
See website for details of their juicily varied events.

AND THIS was indeed a fine production. Wonderful performances in particular from Mathew Roxon ( unmistakeable son of Mathew Kelly!) as Malvolio and Scott Arthur as the irrepresible Sir Andrew Aguecheek.
There was comedy....lots of it....music...and a twisting typical Mr Shakespeare plot...oodles of ingredients for a tasty evening...along with the noodles ( of our friends) and the sarnies ( of us)!! Posted by Picasa

" Partying Thespians..."

More about "ART" at Chester Theatre Club..( http://www.chestertheatreclub.co.uk/ )

Here's the 3 characters, played by Ray, Brian and Cassian, plus their lovely Director, Lisa, having fun at their party at the end of the run.

CTC's next play is Alan Ayckbourn's classic bedroom farce. It's called, yes,  " BEDROOM FARCE".
This runs from Sat Sept 15th until Sat 22nd.( inclusive). Tickets are available  on 01244 322674. See website for details.

The Club's November play is Blake Morrison's " We are Three Sisters", based on the Bronte sisters and first produced by Northern Broadside. I saw this production last November and recommend it heartily.
It runs from Sat Nov 10th to Sat 17th, inclusive.

" Beware: Men With Paintbrushes! "

Last week, another success for Chester Theatre Club.***
Lisa Miller skilfully directed "Art", Yasmina Reiza's compelling play about.......yes,  the nature of art....
It's also a stylish comedy tied up with the complex intricacies of male friendship. And believe me, these intricacies were superbly revealed last week...
Serge buys a painting...a wonderful plain perfectly white painting...and the drama revolves around this piece of "art"...along with the lives and opinions and relationships of three very different longtime friends...
SEE cast above, from left:  Cassian Wheeler ( Yvan) Ray Bengree ( Marc) and Brian Gorman ( Serge)

ALSO last week: I saw local writers group " Script to Stage" perform a showcase of their juicy bitesize plays. The plays were directed by Gail Young, whose play " Cheshire Cats" was published last year by Samuel French... and has raised lots of welcome money for breast cancer charities.
